A Sustainable Vision: Inside the Journey of Amanzzo

Amanzzo epitomises sophistication and modernity with an unwavering dedication to craftsmanship and an exquisite attention to detail. Founded on a profound commitment to environmental stewardship, Amanzzo's journey began on the shores of the Spanish coast, where the vision of creating beautiful swimwear from recycled fabrics was born. Let's embark on a journey through the inspiring tale and sustainable practices of Amanzzo, and explore how this brand is reshaping the fashion landscape with its innovative approach.


Can you tell us about the inspiration behind the founding of Amanzzo and how your journey began? 

Our story started on the Spanish coast where our founder Kris first noticed the amount of plastic washed onto the beach. He strove to make a difference and researched into the different ways that this waste could be used. He discovered that used plastic bottles and fishing nets could be turned into recycled fabric. This made him consider the most appropriate ways in which to use these fabrics. His vision was born; to create beautiful swimwear made from recycled fabrics, clothing made from the sea for the sea. 

Sustainability is at the core of Amanzzo's mission. Could you share with us some specific ways in which the brand incorporates sustainability into its practices?

We have adopted a holistic approach. From the start of every style, we consider the lifetime of our garments to be a circular fashion brand. This is why we don't over produce to be certain our garments do not end up at landfill. Our ranges aim to have timeless, trans-seasonal and trophy pieces within them so that they can be worn more often for longer and thus lengthen the lifetime of each purchase. Wherever possible we use sustainable fabrics and always ensure we work with ethical factories with the same values and sustainable practices. Who produce good quality garments so that they wear well. We use recycled plastic bags or cardboard for our packaging and sell our swimwear in reusable bags. We are also committed to giving back, this is why we are partnered with Eden Projects to plant trees from every order and pledge 1% of every sale to the preservation and restoration of our oceans.


Your commitment to using recycled fabrics made from plastic bottles and fishing nets is commendable. Can you elaborate on how Amanzzo sources and utilises these materials in its products? 

Deciding on how to utilise recycled fabrics was only the beginning. The next step was to put this into practice. We next sought out business partners and suppliers who shared our values and were already working with recycled materials. This first took us to Portugal, where they were at the forefront of sustainable swimwear and already producing fabrics and garments from these materials. We visited perspective business associates and factories where we discussed Indepth their practices and saw first-hand how their facilities were run. To ensure it would be possible to create the range and meet our standards. Once we established who we wished to work with we developed the swimwear range. 

Amanzzo emphasises ethical sourcing and manufacturing. How does the brand ensure that its suppliers and partners align with its values? 

In the UK we work with a wonderful team at Lyfcycle, who are a sustainable clothing sourcing group that offers a comprehensive apparel sourcing & production service to clothing brands Every garment sourced and manufactured by Lyfcycle comes with complete traceability back to fibre source. Offshore we have partnered with long established contacts that we trust, who have made it their mission to only supply from compliant, accredited factories that put best practice foremost.

Could you walk us through the design process at Amanzzo? How do you create stories and ranges with sustainability and lifestyle in mind? 

At Amanzzo, the design process is deeply intertwined with considerations of sustainability and lifestyle to cater to the needs and desires of our customers. We approach the design process in the following way:

Customer Lifestyle-Centric Approach: We place a high value on understanding the lifestyle of our customers. We aim to create a range that seamlessly transitions from day to night, from the airport to the pool, ensuring that our customers have versatile pieces that suit various occasions.

Global Inspiration: Our brand draws inspiration from the colours, cultures, and beauty of countries worldwide. By incorporating these diverse influences into our designs, we aim to infuse a sense of wanderlust and global flair into our range. 

Key pieces:  Stylish easy pieces that can be worn every day underpin each collection.

Inspiration from Everyday Objects: We find inspiration in the everyday, whether it's a beautiful shell from a beach in Whitby or a scarf from a market in Jaipur. This keen eye for detail allows us to incorporate unique and unexpected elements into our designs.

Storytelling through Design: We begin by organising our ideas and inspirations into cohesive stories. These stories help guide the design process, ensuring that each collection has a narrative and a cohesive aesthetic.

Colour Palettes and Mood Boards: The design team creates mood boards and colour palettes to visually represent the themes and inspirations behind each collection. This visual representation helps ensure that the designs stay true to the initial concept.

Capsule Collections: The design process involves creating mini capsule collections that can stand alone but also come together to form a cohesive range. This approach allows for versatility and mix-and-match options within the collection.

Interchangeable Pieces: We design styles that are considered and coordinated, yet interchangeable. This flexibility ensures that customers can mix and match their favourite items to create a variety of outfits suitable for any occasion.

Sustainability Throughout: From the beginning to the end of the design process, sustainability is a key consideration for Amanzzo. We prioritise sustainable materials, ethical practices, and environmentally friendly processes to ensure that our range reflects our commitment to sustainability.

By integrating sustainability, lifestyle considerations, and global inspirations into our design process, we creates collections that are not only stylish and versatile but also conscious of our impact on the planet/people and the preferences of our customers.

Fit and performance are essential aspects of Amanzzo's products. How does the brand ensure quality and functionality while maintaining sustainability?

We are able to ensure quality, functionality, and sustainability in our products through several key practices:

Fabric and trim selection: By choosing the best fabrics and trims, we can ensure that our products are durable, high-quality, and perform well over time. Sustainable materials like organic cotton, recycled polyester, or bamboo fabric are used where possible to reduce environmental impact.

Industry-regulated factories: Amanzzo partner with factories that adhere to industry regulations and standards for labour practices, environmental impact, and quality control. This ensures that the production process is ethical and sustainable.

Monitoring fit, performance, and quality: Our team closely monitors the fit, performance, and quality of our products throughout the design and production process. This helps to identify and address any issues early on, ensuring that the final products meet the brand's standards for excellence.

Long-lasting quality: By focusing on fit and function, Amanzzo creates garments that are durable and long-lasting. Quality products are inherently more sustainable because they reduce the need for frequent replacements, thus reducing overall resource consumption and waste.

By combining these practices, we can create products that not only meet high standards for quality and functionality but also contribute to sustainability by reducing environmental impact and promoting long-term use.

Amanzzo plants trees with every order. Can you share more about the initiatives or organisations that the brand supports through this commitment?

We have partnered with Eden Projects to plant trees for every order. Every day, working in some of the world’s most remote and politically unstable places, Eden overcome challenges with grit, relentlessness, creativity, and an unwavering commitment to their mission to plant trees and save lives.

By Restoring Forests Worldwide, so far Eden Projects have produced, planted and protected more than 977 Million trees with no signs of slowing down.


Employing 14,800 Locals over 10 global sites Eden Projects employ almost 15,000 people from local communities empowering them with a fair wage.
