Exclusive launch of Tokyo-inspired clothing line by techno and house legend Mr. G

Leicester-based retailer Wellgosh is exclusively launching ‘G Threadz’, the first collection by Mr. G, a pioneering figure in the UK house and techno scene.

The streetwear collection will launch exclusively on the Wellgosh website on Thursday 18th March. Inspired by trips to Tokyo throughout an illustrious music career, G Threadz is a tight collection of cut and sew apparel that encapsulates the coming together of two worlds; fashion and music.

Mr. G, also known as Colin McBean, has been producing music for over 30 years and his career has taken him across the globe. Tokyo became a firm favourite, and as a keepsake from every trip, Mr. G would visit a plethora of traditional Japanese haberdasheries, buying up ends of lines of Japanese fabrics, featuring weird and wonderful prints to take home.

Whilst 2020 was a testing time for some, it was a time of renewed creativity for others. Colin and wife Cath, an accomplished seamstress, spent much of lockdown pouring over their archive of Japanese materials and thus, G Threadz was born.

Pete Turner, Managing Director at Wellgosh, said: “The word pioneering is overused, but that’s exactly what Mr. G is. He’s a legend in the house and techno scene, and he’s easily going to make a name for himself in the fashion industry.

“G Threadz is a real passion project; what started out as a conversation around the dinner table between Colin and Cath, has evolved into something really exciting. Both have an eye for detail and intrigue that’s really next level, they’ve turned weird and wonderful fabrics into truly beautiful pieces. G Threadz fills a gap we didn't know needed filling.”

Whilst a launch party has had to be put on hold for now, Mr. G has created a Shop Sounds mix on SoundCloud to celebrate the launch, with unheard gems spanning the electronic music scene.
