This summer, Mar de Frades, the revered Spanish winery located on the edge of the ocean in the D.O. Rías Baixas region of Galicia, an intense landscape of blue ocean, green vines and rich wine making heritage invites the UK to immerse themselves in its unique ‘Atlantic Lifestyle’ with its Mar de Frades Albariño 2023.

Mar de Frades Albariño

A stunning wine for the summer season, this unique, unmistakable white is saline in character, and will seduce you with its freshness and complexity, embodying all the expressions of the Albariño ‘queen grape’ variety.

Known as a paradise for vine growing, Rías Baixas is an area formed of independent vineyards which plant in a traditional way and produce according to viticulture, which works with and respects the conditions of its environment.

It is here, as one of the leading bodegas in the area and key players in the evolution of Galician white wine making, where Mar de Frades, draws together all the virtues from this special region; its soil, climate, grape variety, tradition and unique wine making methods to produce an outstanding, modern and contemporary Albariño wine which retains its strong and distinctive roots.

The Mar de Frades Albariño 2023 has a fresh and intense nose, with notes of wild flowers, eucalyptus, mint and tropical fruit.  An excellent wine for summer and especially complementary with seafood, this complex, full bodied and joyful Albariño, encased in the signature, Atlantic inspired, deep blue bottle, is vibrant and refreshing on the palate and has a fresh, harmonious acidity and aromatic intensity with a hint of lingering minerals, saltiness and subtle balsamic notes.

This wine is authentically Atlantic in Albariño form, ready to transport you to the Galician landscape with just one sip. The Albariño grape, known for its robust skin, flourishes in moist, high-altitude vineyards near the sea. The cooler coastal climate prevents the grape from over-ripening, resulting in a wine with vibrant acidity, accented by delicate white floral aromas and the juicy sweetness of ripe orchard fruits.

Drinking Mar de Frades wine is an experience and an invitation to taste the unique Atlantic character and feel part of the Atlantic lifestyle no matter where you are this summer..

Mar de Frades Albariño is available from Tesco, RRP: £17.00
