Pure Fire Ignites When Rum Meets Heat

Some collaborations feel engineered by a marketing department. Others, you can tell, are born out of late-night conversations between mates who probably should have called it a night but didn’t. PURE FIRE falls firmly into the latter camp.

The new limited-edition serve from multi award-winning SLY DOG Rum and Ginger Wings — the bold chicken wing concept from Jack Blumenthal and Leigh Jones — is not here for the delicate spritz crowd. It’s a canned cocktail that snarls back, a spiced-and-stormy laced with toasted spice, candied ginger, and the kind of peppery kick that leaves its mark long after the can’s empty.
The idea was inevitable. SLY DOG co-founder Louis Goddard-Watts and Ginger Wings’ Blumenthal have been friends for years — the sort who egg each other on into going bigger, bolder, and a little madder. “What if we made a drink that hit as hard as your wings?” became less of a joke and more of a blueprint. From there, PURE FIRE practically wrote itself.
This isn’t their first rodeo together. Earlier this summer, SLY DOG and Ginger Wings linked up with the record label Famous When Dead for Pub in the Park, setting the tone for a partnership that thrives on rebellion, flavour, and a refusal to do things by halves. PURE FIRE is their most distilled statement yet.
For Ginger Wings, it’s a natural evolution. In just three years, their Marlow shop has stacked up nearly 30 awards before launching a major branch this May. Known for flavour-packed wings, strips, and burgers, they’ve redefined what great chicken tastes like. Pairing that kind of boldness with the spiced swagger of SLY DOG Rum feels less like a marketing play and more like a shared manifesto.

So where does PURE FIRE land? Just in time for Notting Hill Carnival and the August bank holiday. Cans will be stocked at Ginger Wings Marlow, at the Tap Tavern in Richmond where Ginger Wings are on summer residency, and even at Ed Sheeran’s Notting Hill pub, Bertie Blossoms. For those chasing the festival spirit, St Albans’ Pub in the Park (5–7 September) will have them on hand — alongside food, rum, and a soundtrack to match.
And for everyone else? They’re available online at slydog.co.uk from £3 a can, with preorders already open. Order a bottle of SLY DOG Spiced Rum or its Stoned Fruit sibling, and you’ll find a can of PURE FIRE slipped in for free.
Crafted by SLY DOG. Fired up by Ginger Wings. This is more than a limited-edition serve — it’s a taste of friendship, rebellion, and the kind of heat you only get when two worlds collide. Glass optional. Second can essential.
