There are festivals that test your stamina. Then there’s Way Out West—a refined three-day affair set in the green heart of Gothenburg, where music meets culture, sustainability, and style in perfect measure. From 7–9 August 2025, Sweden’s most effortlessly cool city transforms into a stage for some of the world’s most important artists, and for those in the know, it’s the only summer ticket that truly matters.

Forget mud-soaked fields and mass-produced lager. Picture instead the slow roll of sunset across Slottsskogen Park, Charli XCX commanding the main stage, and Iggy Pop tearing through decades with the force of a cultural cyclone. Then, as the city lights flicker on, Stay Out West begins—an after-hours sprawl of live sets in Gothenburg’s dive bars, theatres, and industrial spaces, giving underground acts and global names a shared spotlight.
This year’s lineup is as tastefully unpredictable as ever: Queens of the Stone Age, Little Simz, Pet Shop Boys, Wet Leg, Beth Gibbons, Chappell Roan, Fontaines D.C., Noname, Amaarae, BICEP, and Mavis Staples. It’s a bill that rejects easy genre definitions, curating a soundscape that reflects culture in motion.

But what sets Way Out West apart isn’t just who’s on stage—it’s where, and how. Gothenburg is a revelation: a coastal, culture-rich city with canals, saunas, street-level sophistication and a bikeable layout that makes it feel more like a curated gallery of modern Scandinavian living than a metropolis. And getting there? Direct flights from the UK and under 45 minutes from airport to city centre.
Festival passes start at £127—a small price for access to what is arguably Europe’s most intelligently curated music experience. The event is proudly 100% vegetarian, plastic-free and globally respected for its sustainability model. Here, green credentials aren’t just an afterthought—they’re baked into the experience.

Between sets, expect to stumble across visual installations, artist talks, unexpected DJ takeovers and food that wouldn’t be out of place in a Copenhagen bistro. This isn’t about escaping real life—it’s about elevating it.
For the culturally curious, for those who value the craft over the chaos, and for anyone who believes a festival can be both electric and elegant, Way Out West is your summer’s defining chapter.
