A new face on the £50 note?

It has been announced that there will be a new face on the new £50 note, but who should it be? The bank of England say they look for 'British character's who are widely admired and who have an important contribution to our society and culture'. So the big question is who should it be?

Some favourites include the first female Prime Minister of the UK Margret Thatcher, the late music icon David Bowie and the England rose herself Princess Diana. Other names being thrown around include; Stephen Hawking, Bruce Forsyth and Agatha Christie.

Many are asking why is their going to be a new face replacing Matthew Boulton and James Watt. The truth is that they are printing the new plastic notes to go along with the £5 and £10 plastic notes currently in circulation. The new £20 notes are due for circulation in 2020.
