Huel - Product Reviews

Huel is taking both sides of the Atlantic by storm with their ready to drink bottles to their hot and savoury meals, if you are looking for a nutritionally complete meal ready in less than 5 minutes you have got to of seen Huel. The issue with brands like Huel is you never know what the product is going to taste like, if it will actually fill you up and if its worth the cost, so before you invest your money in buying Huel we've reviewed their range to give you honest and fair feed back on the products.

Ready To Drink Bottles

Lets start with their RTD bottles which they have been developing and releasing more and more flavours. The ones we included in the review include; Chocolate, Vanilla, Berry and Banana also known as the Variety Box v1.0. 1 box includes 12 bottles (3 of each flavour) and works about to be £3.13 per bottle (which is cheaper than retail shops where the range from £3.50 - £3.85). These bottles are what they say on the tin - they are ready to go, ready to drink and contains all the nutrition you need from 1 meal, all 26 essential vitamins and minerals and 22g of protein.

All 4 flavours are incredibly tasty, not over powering flavours but full enough, you can tell they haven't added anything to try to over do the flavouring something which I believe is key when design products like this flavour is the most important and they've got it spot on with these 4. The consistency is like a milkshake so something super easy to drink and considering it essentially has everything you need from a meal its a great nutritional alternative. Something which also left me feeling full-up afterwards. If you were considering only drinking these you would require 5/6 a day due to the calorie intake required for men and women. The price point too i felt absolutely fine with due to it being so packed with what it is even at £3.85 i felt was value for money

Black Edition

The Huel Black Edition is something I consider to be quite a staple for Huel. It is a high-protein, nutritionally complete meal. It can be served with 1 scoop (200Kcal) or 2 scoopes (400Kcal) with a 2 scoop serving containing all 26 essential vitamins and minerals, fats, fibre, and phytonutrients, but with 50% less carbs and 33% more protein than Huel Powder. This for me is the giant in the products something those into their fitness and muscle building will certainly be interested in.

This product is available in a variety of flavours however the one we tried was the banana. The flavour was different to the RTG banana drink but was still very good. Once again nothing too over powering the levels were just right. This one had a slightly more grainy consistency however as someone who likes pulp in there OJ I have absolutely no issues with this, not lumpy or anything like that and still very very easy to drink and easy to make.

Each bag contains 17 meals and 1 bag costs £28.50 making it just £1.68 per meal.

Again truly great value for money you wont find a meal as cheap as this with the same nutritional benefits and incredible flavours.

Huel Powder

The Huel Powder is what I would call the RTG bottles in a powder format. It's a nutritionally complete meal in powdered form. Just mix with water and you’re good to go. Huel Powder contains an ideal balance of protein, carbs, essential fats, fibre, and all the 26 essential vitamins and minerals your body needs to thrive.

So the key here was to compare the this against the RTG bottles. We tried the Huel Powder - Vanilla so the same as one of the RTG and the flavours were almost exactly the same again prominent but not over powering which as I keep saying I feel is super key when it comes to these types of products. The consistency was slight more watery compared to the RTG bottles however I did use water you may find a different result with a milk alternative. Each bag contains 17 servings and it works out to be £1.51 per meal so a lot cheaper per meal than the bottles however you need to mix this yourself and you dont have the ease of just taking 2 or 3 on the go you have to take the powder with you.

Again really impressed with this product and I would highly recommend. You can get this product over at Huel.com

Huel's Complete Protein Powder

The Huel Complete Protein is the world’s first nutritionally complete vegan protein powder. Boasting being made from sustainably sourced, high-quality, animal-free with ingredients including: hemp, faba and pea protein. It’s naturally gluten-free and contains more essential amino acids (EAAs) per gram than whey protein.

If you are a gym goer and protein powder is something you drink regularly then you need to try Huel's Complete Protein, not only is it vegan but the formulate ingredients are there to ensure you are performing at the highest levels you can. The flavour we tried was the strawberries and cream and although a little sweet (I like sweet things) the flavour was perfect. I believe as always with these things are aren't going to get it on the exact mark every time however this is one of the closest protein powders I've ever tasted, fantastic consistency too.

It also works out to be just £0.87 per drink with each bottle costing £22.50 in which you get 26 portions.

When it comes to protein powders this for me ticks all the boxes and truly stands out from the rest.

Hot and Savoury

Huel Hot and Savoury is the perfectly balanced vegan meal in minutes. Bursting with all-natural ingredients and a balanced blend of all the good stuff you’d expect from Huel – perfect for when you’re short on time but want to go big on taste. With a variety of options your menu will certainly be full of incredible flavours and all require minimum to no prep what so ever!

We tried the Mexican Chilli, this one was really full of flavour and we could really taste the quality of the produce that was in there considering you add hot water and let it soak it up for 5 minutes. We found although incredibly full of flavour the Mexican Chilli was certainly a hot one so its not for the faint hearted. I am super keen to try more flavours of these meals as nothing about them screams artificial flavour just hot full meals. Available from just £2.66 per meal!

I would recommend them again as maybe a mixed diet between the RTG / Powder and these for a nutritionally complete diet day in day out.
