Conversations about ageing often circle around denial and quick fixes, yet Lana Kerr has taken a different approach. As the founder of Lumisque Skincare, she has made it her mission to bring clarity, science, and accessibility to a subject that can easily feel overwhelming. Her development of the CO2LIFT® treatment has been described as revolutionary, offering visible results without invasive procedures and earning recognition from medical professionals across the globe.

In this first part of a four week interview series, Kerr speaks with refreshing honesty about the myths surrounding age management, the importance of scientific credibility in an industry crowded with bold promises, and why accessibility must be central to any real progress. The conversation sets the tone for the weeks ahead, where she continues to unpack the future of skincare and the changing attitudes toward ageing.

Lana Kerr

Ageing is often presented as a problem to be solved rather than a natural process to embrace. How do you approach that conversation with your work at Lumisque Skincare?

As I get older, I understand why aging is often presented as a problem. We are living longer today thanks to advances in technology, and naturally we want to look and feel younger to match that. What we see in the mirror can influence how we feel inside, so it makes sense to use the technology available to address the causes behind aging skin. For me, age management is not about denying the process but about understanding it and making choices that can slow, minimize, or even reverse certain changes. At Lumisque, our goal is to help educate people on the root causes of aging and give them the tools to manage it through advanced technology in a way that supports both confidence and vitality.

CO2LIFT is hailed as a game changer in non-invasive treatments. For someone who has never heard of it before, how would you explain what makes it so different?

CO2LIFT® is a professional grade carboxy gel treatment that can be applied anywhere on the body. What makes it so different is that it works at the microcirculatory level, triggering the body’s natural healing response rather than just sitting on the surface of the skin. Beyond regenerating the skin like no other treatment in terms of speed and comprehensive improvement, people notice visible results right away. Hydration, luminosity, and smoother texture are often seen after just one application, which is why so many call it a true game changer in non-invasive age management.

The beauty industry is filled with quick fixes and bold claims. How do you balance innovation with scientific credibility?

At Lumisque, we have been very intentional about building CO2LIFT® on scientific studies and clinical validation. Innovation is only meaningful if it stands up to real world results, so we invest heavily in research and physician partnerships. Every claim we make is rooted in measurable outcomes such as improvements in hydration, elasticity, and healing rather than hype. That credibility has earned CO2LIFT® the trust of dermatologists, surgeons, and medical spas worldwide.

What do you think people misunderstand most about non-invasive treatments compared to traditional cosmetic procedures?

The biggest misconception is that non-invasive means less effective. In reality, treatments like CO2LIFT® are designed to work with the body’s own systems at the microcirculatory level, which makes them highly effective. A good example is hormone therapy. Testosterone can be given as an injection, but it can also be delivered through a topical gel that penetrates into the bloodstream and works just as powerfully. The same principle applies here. CO2LIFT® may be applied topically, but it stimulates circulation and oxygenation in a way that regenerates the skin and supports healing. While it does not replace surgery, it fills an essential role in prevention, recovery, and maintenance, and people are often surprised to learn it is also used to speed post surgical healing and to enhance the results of lasers and microneedling.

How has the idea of age management evolved in the last decade, and where do you see it going next?

Ten years ago, the conversation was dominated by injectables and surgery. Today, we are seeing a shift toward biohacking, prevention, and regeneration, which are ways to keep the skin functioning well without needles. In the future, I believe age management will continue to move toward integrative care, combining topical innovations like CO2LIFT® with nutrition, hormonal balance, and wellness practices. It is becoming less about resisting age and more about supporting vitality, energy, and the ability to look and feel youthful at every stage of life.

Many people still think of clinical treatments as something only available to a certain elite. How important was accessibility to you when developing CO2LIFT?

Accessibility has always been central to our mission. We wanted to create a treatment that is professional in quality but approachable in application. With CO2LIFT®, a patient can experience a medical grade result in a clinic or apply the treatment themselves at home. That flexibility breaks down the barrier that only the elite can access cutting edge skincare. Everyone deserves the opportunity to feel comfortable and confident in their skin.

Do you believe society’s view of ageing has started to shift towards something more empowering rather than something to fear?

Yes, we are at a turning point. Instead of seeing aging as decline, people are beginning to see it as a time of empowerment and longevity. It is about staying active, confident, and fulfilled, not trying to erase the years. Skincare plays a powerful role in that shift. When you look in the mirror and see skin that reflects your vitality, it reinforces the idea that aging is something to embrace rather than fear.

Throughout the interview, Kerr reframes ageing as an opportunity to feel empowered rather than diminished. She explains how CO2LIFT® stimulates the body’s own systems to regenerate skin, highlights the growing shift toward prevention and integrative care, and challenges the misconception that non invasive means less effective. For Kerr, skincare is not about erasing the years but supporting vitality and confidence at every stage of life. This opening conversation lays the foundation for a series that redefines what age management can and should mean today.
