Effortless, low-maintenance haircuts, styles, and colours are expected to rise in popularity this autumn/winter season, according to brand-new research.
To discover which hair trends are expected to emerge through autumn/winter 2025, premium hair extension provider Milk & Blush analysed Google and Pinterest data from the past three months.

A key trend from the research was rich brunette shades with a 24% increase in Google searches for ‘espresso brown hair’. Additionally, ‘natural black’ and ‘dark brown’ became Milk & Blush’s most popular shades, with a 22% increase in sales.
By analysing Google and Pinterest searches from the past three months, Milk & Blush has identified some of the key hair trends set to define the remainder of 2025, including:
Butterfly cut (+133% in Google searches)
Bixie cut (+83% in Google searches)
Boho braids (+53% in Google searches)
Soft waves (+51% in Google searches)
Fiery reds, including cherry red (+14% in Google searches)
Nicole Petty, Brand Director at Milk & Blush, said: “Autumn and winter are all about balancing style with practicality, and this season’s hair trends reflect exactly that. From versatile layered cuts that need minimal styling, like the butterfly and bixie, to low-maintenance shades that offer a seamless grow-out, such as brondes, people are gravitating towards looks that feel effortless yet high-impact.”
The main commonality of the above trends is that they are all versatile, hassle-free options, perfect for the colder mornings. Many also require less upkeep, allowing for a tighter budget during the expensive months.
“It’s clear that people want less upkeep during these months,” Nicole Petty added. “We often see high-maintenance blonde shades drop off during this season, with many opting for more manageable shades like brunettes and darker blondes.”
