In Zurich, sustainability doesn’t shout, it drives quietly in the slow lane, letting its substance do the talking. FREITAG, the cult bag brand known for turning Europe’s worn out truck tarps into urban icons, has found yet another way to turn yesterday’s waste into something oddly irresistible. Enter the Lucky Trucking Charms, a new series of one off accessories that transform production leftovers into miniature style statements with attitude.

Each charm is cut from the same colourful, road worn tarps that define FREITAG’s unmistakable aesthetic. Scuffed by time, faded by weather, and shaped by the highways of Europe, every piece carries a story. FREITAG’s team of holistic designers saw more than just scraps, they saw potential. What was once destined for the bin now swings proudly from backpacks, belts, or even Christmas trees.
The Lucky Trucking Charms debut in four designs, each with its own streak of character. The F210 AUTOBAHN nods to Europe’s open roads, cut into a classic sign inspired shape and dangling from an adjustable ball chain. F211 DICE takes the trucker cliché of fuzzy dice and flattens it into something sleeker, two vibrant, two dimensional dice that promise good luck with a side of irony. F212 FACE gives personality to your keys or bag, complete with an eye rolling grin that feels distinctly FREITAG, part sarcasm, part charm.

And then there’s the scene stealer, F213 MINI MESSENGER, a tiny replica of FREITAG’s iconic messenger bag, reimagined as a micro pouch that can hold your earbuds, loose change, or even a dog bag. It’s a piece of everyday poetry, functional, playful, and unapologetically original.
“Mindful and resource efficient design has always been our foundation,” says Anne Bachmann, Holistic Designer at FREITAG. “Each charm is created from the colourful tarp remnants left after cutting our bags. We hand select the most beautiful pieces, punch them out, and create new mini one offs. Every tarp carries its own story from Europe’s highways, no two charms are alike.”

This isn’t just upcycling for the sake of sustainability, it’s FREITAG refining its craft. The Lucky Trucking Charms continue the brand’s decades long conversation between durability and individuality, proving once again that waste can be wonderful.
Launching 5 November 2025, the charms will be available at all FREITAG Stores, selected retail partners, and online at freitag.ch, priced between £22 and £40. Whether it’s hanging from your backpack or sitting smugly on your keys, each charm is more than decoration, it’s a little piece of Europe’s asphalt soul.
