A Season of Indulgence and London Charm at The Cadogan Arms, The George and The Hound

London does Christmas well, but some places do it with unmistakable flair. This year, three of the cities most celebrated neighbourhood pubs are stepping confidently into the spotlight. The Cadogan Arms in Chelsea, The George in Fitzrovia and The Hound in Chiswick are ushering in the festive season with an irresistible combination of cold weather comfort, refined seasonal dining and the sort of atmosphere that turns a December evening into a memory.

From the middle of November until the first days of the New Year, each pub is serving a line up of indulgent menus, lively events and classic Christmas day dining that puts them high on the list for celebrations across the capital.

Festive Menus That Celebrate Winter Comfort

The season begins with a collection of new specials that take familiar flavours and elevate them with a sense of occasion. The Christmas Scotch Egg arrives enriched with confit goose leg and tarragon, finished with a port and cranberry chutney. The Turkey Keema and Cheddar toastie offers a more playful nod to tradition, served with masala ketchup. These dishes sit alongside Hot Smoked Salmon with horseradish mascarpone and rye crisp, and Pork Shoulder Rillettes on sourdough with pickled shallots. They can be enjoyed individually or as part of the pubs Festive Snack Boards, which come in both classic and vegetarian versions.

Guests wanting something more celebratory can settle in for a full feast experience. The three course Beef Wellington Feast Menu features an impressive centrepiece encased in golden pastry, while the Festive Feast Menu presents a traditional roasted crown of turkey or stuffed leg of lamb, served with the trimmings that define the season. Pigs in blankets, brown butter sprouts, Chantenay carrots, braised red cabbage, duck fat potatoes, Yorkshire puddings and roast gravy arrive in generous abundance. The vegetarian feast showcases a leek, potato and brie pithivier with garlic and thyme velouté. Every menu concludes with an apple and blackberry crumble with vanilla custard. At The George and The Hound, guests can also opt for a two course version of the festive feast.

Spaces Made for Celebrations

Each pub offers dedicated rooms for gatherings through the season. At The Cadogan Arms, the Rose Room welcomes up to forty five guests for drinks, canapés or private dinners. The George provides several different spaces that suit both intimate occasions and larger groups, including the Snug, the Green Room, the Gluepot and a private dining room. Over in Chiswick, The Hound offers a private dining room, a front room designed for relaxed dining and The Courtyard which works beautifully for bigger celebrations.

Christmas Day Without Stress

For those who would rather enjoy Christmas day than manage it, The Hound is opening its doors for a warm and elegant four course celebration. The meal begins with a glass of champagne followed by a Jerusalem artichoke soup. Sharing boards arrive with venison tartare, duck terrine, salmon crudo and warm sourdough with whipped butter. The main event comes family style with roast turkey crown, confit turkey leg and roast rump of beef served with all the traditional winter sides. A vegetarian menu is also available. Dessert brings the comfort of Christmas pudding with brandy custard alongside a Bakewell tart. The Cadogan Arms will also host Christmas day dining, with limited availability.

Carol Concerts to Lift the Season

Music will fill each pub throughout December. The George welcomes the London based consort I Dodici on the second of December for an evening of classic carols. The Cadogan Arms will be joined by the Chelsea Pensioners Choir on the eighth and the fifteenth. The Hound continues the celebration with a visit from the Rock Choir on the ninth of December.
