The second instalment in our four week interview series with Agi Njie explores how Pink Genetics is redefining what it means to be truly inclusive in beauty. Loved by teenagers mothers and grandmothers alike the brand continues to blur the lines between age artistry and accessibility. Njie’s philosophy is simple yet powerful beauty should never exclude or intimidate it should invite play discovery and connection. In this conversation she shares how timeless design meets everyday joy how inclusivity becomes more than a slogan and why she believes makeup is less about perfection and more about people.

The Pink Genetics

Pink Genetics is loved by teenagers, mothers, and even grandmothers. How do you design products that speak to such a wide age range without losing their edge?

I approach every product thinking about timelessness blended with playfulness. Beauty should feel exciting to a teenager discovering makeup for the first time, but it should also feel meaningful for a grandmother who wants to enjoy a touch of self-expression. The key is designing products that are easy to use, joyful in presentation, and high-quality, so they resonate across generations while still feeling fresh and modern.

Inclusivity is a buzzword in beauty, but for you it seems deeply personal. What does true inclusivity look like in practice?

For me, inclusivity isn’t just a slogan—it’s woven into every part of the brand. From the shades we create to the way we tell our stories, we ensure that everyone feels seen, represented, and celebrated. True inclusivity is creating experiences where no one feels like an afterthought, whether it’s a teenager just starting out or a professional makeup artist, and making every person feel welcomed and valued.

Many people still see makeup as something intimidating or exclusive. How do you want Pink Genetics to change that perception?

I always say that makeup should not be taken too seriously. It’s about creativity, expressing your own ideas, and having fun. To me, makeup is like art, we all have a blank canvas, and we each paint it differently. Everyone has their own vision, and that’s what makes it unique. Pink Genetics aims to encourage people to explore that creativity without fear, to enjoy the process, and to see beauty as an individual expression rather than something intimidating.

What role do affordability and accessibility play in shaping your collections?

Affordability and accessibility are central to everything we do. Beauty should never feel out of reach. We design products to feel like an indulgence without the steep price, giving people the chance to enjoy luxurious, high-quality items while still being practical. Accessibility also extends to ease of use, so anyone, beginner or expert, can experience the joy of creating looks without frustration.

Beauty can often be tied to confidence. How do you see makeup as a tool for connection rather than just appearance?

Makeup is much more than how it looks on the skin—it’s about the moments it creates. I see it as a tool for connection: mothers bonding with daughters, friends sharing tips and experimenting together, individuals discovering their own style. Confidence comes from feeling seen, having fun, and feeling part of something bigger. Pink Genetics aims to provide those shared experiences, where makeup becomes a language of connection rather than just a routine.

Has there been a moment when a customer’s story made you realize the real impact of your brand beyond the product itself?

Yes. One story that truly touched me involved a mother and her teenage daughter who had been feeling distant from one another. They began using Pink Genetics regenerative products together, applying lip oils, experimenting with lashes, and laughing over the looks they created. That ritual became their special time, helping them reconnect and strengthen their bond. It reminded me that Pink Genetics isn’t just about makeup—it’s about creating meaningful moments, memories, and joy.

If you could break down one beauty barrier for good, what would it be?

I would break down the barrier of exclusivity. For too long, beauty has been framed as something for a select few, the experts, influencers, or professionals. I want to erase that completely. Beauty is for everyone, and it should feel welcoming, playful, and empowering no matter where someone is on their journey.

In this second feature Agi Njie reveals how Pink Genetics bridges generations and breaks down barriers with warmth and authenticity. Every shade every texture and every story behind the brand is rooted in inclusivity and accessibility creating a beauty space where everyone feels welcome. Through playful design and heartfelt purpose Njie continues to prove that makeup is not about transformation but celebration a shared language of confidence creativity and connection.
