Launched on 7th March, in advance of IWD, the vagina-shaped empanada will raise awareness of Endometriosis Action Month & funds for The Vagina Museum

De Nadas, the UK's first empanadería to specialising in Argentinian hand-shaped empanadas and the world's first Vagina Museum, have joined forces to create the Vulvanada.

Launched in advance of International Women’s Day, the Vulvanada has been created to raise awareness of Endometriosis Action Month, which is observed in March, and raise funds for the Vagina Museum, a registered charity that is the world's first brick-and-mortar museum dedicated to vaginas, vulvas and the gynaecological anatomy.

The Vulvanada, which will be available exclusively at De Nadas’ new shop in Bethnal Green from Friday 7th to 31st March, will feature spiced peaches, caramelised in a ginger and cinnamon each and £2 from every sale will go to The Vagina Museum.

Launched in 2019, The Vagina Museum made its first permanent home in Camden Market and recently took over two railway arches on Bethnal Green’s Poyser Street. Founded in response to a lack of gynaecological representation throughout the world, the museum hosts exhibitions throughout the year as well as featuring a programme of talks, workshops, comedy, theatre and performance art.

De Nadas’ empanadería in Bethnal Green will be Vagina Museum's new neighbour on Poyser Street - a road of railway arches which houses a burgeoning community of independent businesses including Sodo Pizza, Focaccia Mia and La Tostada.

De Nadas was founded in 2022 to bring a cult-status to Argentinian empanadas in London. Poyser Street will be home to the brand’s new kitchen and fourth shop, following openings in Notting Hill, Shoreditch and Stoke Newington.

The partnered Vulvanada aims to raise awareness of Endometriosis Action Month. The month in March is designed to help people understand the condition and identify its symptoms, get earlier diagnosis, as well as improve quality-of-life and demand change and improved care for women affected.

Zoe Williams, Director of the Vagina Museum:

"We're thrilled to team up with our neighbours in this unique collaboration. There's nothing dirty and shameful about the vulva. Almost a third of young women are embarrassed to go to the doctor to talk about gynaecological symptoms, including symptoms of endometriosis such as heavy bleeding and debilitating pain. Half the world has a vulva, and together with De Nadas, we're breaking taboos and eradicating shame."

Annabel Martinez-Fox, Co-Founder of De Nadas said of the Vulvanada:

“Out of all our empanadas, this is my new favourite. We are delighted to be working with the amazing team at the Vagina Museum and support the work they do to promote vagina positivity and women’s health. It’s also a great start to our new home in the Poyser Street community”.
