Happy World Cup Day


Its June 14th 2018 which only means one thing... THE FIFA WORLD CUP 2018 BEGINS TODAY!

It's been the competition football fans across the world have been waiting for since the controversial UEFA Champions league final last month.


June 14th see's hosts Russia taken on fellow group A team Saudi Arabia at 16:00 GMT to get this years tournament underway.

With 32 teams taking part in the competition in Russia this year we take a look at some of the favorites to win the World Cup 2018.

Brazil -

5 times world cup winners Brazil are undoubtedly bookies favorites across the board. With one of the worlds best player Neymar in the line up, they will be a team we will be expecting to see progress far into the competition.

Brazil's tournament begins on Sunday 17th June, 4 days into the world cup where they take on Switzerland in the Group E tie.

Germany -

Reigning holders Germany are bookies second favorites to win this years tournament as they look to secure back - to - back World Cup titles. The four times champions of the competition begin there defense on Sunday 17th June, 4 days into the tournament against Mexico in the first Group F tie of the competition. They are currently ranked FIFA No.1 Team.

Spain -

The 2010 world cup winners are the 3rd favorites to lift the cup this year. Since winning the Euro 2008 and 2012 with the world cup win in 2010 Spain have experienced their best spell in their footballing history. Captained by Champions League Winner Sergio Ramos who will undoubtedly play a big part in Spain's World cup bid this year. Currently ranked 10th in FIFA World rankings.

France -

With their only world cup win being 20 years ago, France will be a side that the whole world will be watching. With new young players playing in the top leagues in the world they have talent oozing out.

Ranked by FIFA as 7th best will the caption Hugo Loris be lifting the cup on June 15th?

France kick off there world cup bid on whats being called 'Super Saturday' (13th June), against Australia in group C in what is the first of 4 games to be played on the Saturday.

England -

The competitions 7th favorites are England, will be hoping to win their first senior world cup since 1966. The founders of the great game will be hoping to defy odds and lift this years title. Kicking off their campaign on Monday 18th June against Tunisia they will face their first tough test on the 28th June where they will take on 6th Favorites Belgium in their last group G tie.
