Balthazar has never been shy of a little theatre, but this Christmas the Covent Garden favourite has stepped into full character. In partnership with GREY GOOSE, the brasserie has embraced the magnetism of Parisian cabaret, turning its dining room into a world of red velvet, gold details and quiet glamour that hints at late nights on the Left Bank. From ten November until two January, guests are invited to leave the ordinary outside and enter a room that feels made for celebration.
The transformation is more than visual. Balthazar has built a festive menu that draws on French classics with its own easy confidence. The evening can begin with a trio of oysters paired with a miniature GREY GOOSE martini cocktail. A small gesture perhaps, but one that sets the tone with effortless style. From there, the Festive Set Menu takes over with either two or three courses. Starters bring a choice of house cured salmon, a beautifully pressed confit pork terrine, or a roasted pumpkin soup that leans into the comfort of the season.
The mains celebrate the richness and theatre of the occasion. Turkey ballotine arrives prepared with care, seafood tagliatelle offers a generous taste of the coast, and moules mariniere served with frites adds a moment of brasserie nostalgia. Dessert continues the indulgence. A warm and silky creme brulee sits alongside a classic Christmas pudding, and for those ordering from the a la carte menu, a sticky toffee pudding with a GREY GOOSE L Orange infused sauce becomes the final curtain call.
The drinks list has been shaped in partnership with GREY GOOSE and reads like a cast of characters from the evening show. The Curtain Call blends GREY GOOSE L Orange with Bellamie cherry aperitif, sweet vermouth and citrus marmalade. Backstage Pass brings together GREY GOOSE, creme de Cassis, elderflower and cremant rose, a sparkling lift suited to a toast beneath the chandeliers. Midnight Matinee takes the espresso martini into deeper territory with Irish cream and hazelnut liqueur, while the Green Room mixes classic GREY GOOSE with GREY GOOSE Altius, pear and walnut liqueurs and honey aperitif.
It is all designed to capture a sense of Paris at its most glamorous. The kind of night that feels wrapped in velvet and candlelight, where good food, good company and a well made drink create the sort of memory that lasts long after the decorations have gone.
