London moves differently in December. The lights sharpen, the crowds swell and even the most familiar streets feel touched by theatre. In the middle of the holiday rush sits a beloved institution that has perfected the art of comfort with character: The Mayfair Chippy. This year the team has stepped fully into the spirit of the season with a Christmas menu designed to warm the soul after a long day of navigating winter shopping bags and fairy lit pavements.

The Mayfair Chippy

Both the Mayfair flagship and the Knightsbridge outpost are serving a collection of festive specials from Monday 24 November to Wednesday 24 December. The menu pulls from classic British Christmas flavours, re imagined through the restaurant’s unmistakable coastal lens. The result is a celebration of nostalgia, craft and unmistakable London charm.

The experience begins with a starter that feels like a familiar friend dressed for a party. The Festive Scotch Egg arrives with a centre of sage and onion stuffing and a tender confit turkey leg, lifted by a cranberry and bacon relish that brings a soft sweetness to each bite. It is the sort of dish that prepares you for the indulgence ahead.

The headline act comes in the form of a Norfolk Turkey and Chestnut Pie, a golden creation filled with winter richness. It is served with goose fat potatoes that crackle under the fork, cranberry and sage relish, and a full supporting cast of seasonal trimmings. It is British comfort, polished and generous.

Dessert stays true to tradition but with a playful twist. Deep fried mince pies dusted in cinnamon sugar arrive warm and fragrant, joined by rum and raisin ice cream that melts just enough to bring everything together. It is the kind of ending that makes you wish December lasted longer.

To toast the season, diners can choose between a warm festive mulled wine or a mulled Cornish cider, each one aromatic enough to cut through cold evenings and crowded streets.

For those planning ahead, Knightsbridge is offering an early bird treat. Groups of six or more who book before the end of October for dates between 1 November and 23 December will be welcomed with a complimentary glass of prosecco or a non alcoholic alternative for each guest.

The Mayfair Chippy

If your ideal December moment includes great food, a touch of theatre and a restaurant that knows how to honour British tradition, The Mayfair Chippy is ready to serve it. A festive menu that feels familiar yet elevated, delivered in two of the city’s most loved neighbourhoods. This is Christmas in London, wrapped in warmth and a little sea salt.
