Alexander Tischler Transforms Moscow Apartment into a Contemporary Art Haven
In a vibrant project that combines the elegance of modern design with the eclectic charm of pop culture, Alexander Tischler design company has reimagined a 71 m² apartment for a financier’s family in Moscow. This two-bedroom corner apartment, completed in 2024, is a testament to the creative synergy between functionality and aesthetic appeal, offering a unique living experience enriched by bespoke interiors and high-end finishes.

A Vision Turned Reality
From the outset, the project team faced a clear set of goals: creating a stylish yet practical living space that reflects the clients' love for contemporary art and travel memorabilia. The lead designer, Karen Karapetian, alongside a talented team of engineers and specialists, successfully delivered a design that met every requirement, from an isolated office to a kitchen with an island and ample storage solutions.

Kitchen-Living Room: The Heart of the Home
Spanning an impressive 36.6 m², the kitchen-living room boasts three large windows, filling the space with natural light. A central feature is the custom-designed island by Italian brand Cesar, framed in porcelain stoneware and finished with quartzite countertops. Equipped with a built-in hood, a wine cabinet, and deep drawers, the island seamlessly combines form and function. Thoughtfully integrated sockets maintain the sleek, monolithic look, while semi-bar stools on the living room side provide a cozy breakfast spot.
Adding a personal touch, illuminated glass shelves display the clients’ cherished travel souvenirs and art pieces. The dining area, anchored by a table with a neutral finish and vibrant blue Midj chairs, is enhanced by pendant lamps from renowned British designer Tom Dixon. A Marvel-themed poster in a custom lightbox adds a playful nod to pop culture, reflecting the clients’ interests.
Relaxation and Entertainment
For comfort and versatility, the living room features a Milano Bedding fold-out sofa and a metal-finished hanging cabinet. A surround-sound audio system, with strategically placed speakers near the TV and above the sofa, elevates the entertainment experience. A cozy lounge area by the window includes a MisuraEmme armchair and a vinyl player stand, complemented by a bespoke wall-mounted bar with ribbed glass fronts from Alexander Tischler.
Personalized Details Throughout
In the hallway, space optimization was a priority. A sleek utility cabinet houses a washing machine, dryer, and vacuum cleaners, with additional room for laundry essentials. The guest bathroom, conveniently located opposite, doubles as a functional laundry extension, featuring a versatile countertop sink and stainless steel panels for the clients' travel magnet collection. RGB lighting around the mirror cabinet offers customizable ambiance, perfect for entertaining guests.
The hallway also features a floor-to-ceiling mirror, creating an illusion of expanded space. A mirrored console provides discreet storage, while a large closet, adorned with decorative plaster facades and hand-painted details, offers practical yet artistic storage solutions.

A Serene Bedroom Oasis
In the bedroom, the design team commissioned MisuraEmme to craft wardrobes with tinted glass fronts and eco-leather-lined drawers. Vertical lighting enhances the luxurious feel, while a door-mounted mirror adds functionality. Above the headboard, a curved panel painted by an artist is accentuated by subtle lighting, creating a serene atmosphere.
Extending into the loggia, the curved panel design ensures a cohesive aesthetic. The loggia itself, warmed by additional glazing, serves as a compact 4.1 m² office, complete with a concrete-finished table and a document cabinet.
Spa-Like Bathroom Retreat
Initially designed with hallway access, the bathroom was reconfigured to connect directly to the bedroom, expanding its area to 7.3 m². Italian brand 41zero42’s tiles, featuring palm leaf motifs against misted glass, adorn the wall by the window. A freestanding bathtub and ceiling-mounted Antonio Lupi shower head add to the spa-like ambiance. Custom cabinetry with integrated lighting offers ample storage for cosmetics, while parquet flooring, reminiscent of deck boards, unifies the bedroom and bathroom.
The Creative Force Behind the Project
Under the guidance of chief designer Karen Karapetian, the Alexander Tischler design company assembled a skilled team to bring this project to life. Key contributors included designer Anna Prokhorova, engineers Konstantin Prokhorov, Oleg Mokrushnikov, and Liubov Kotelnikova, head of purchasing Ekaterina Baibakova, head of finishing Karen Nikoian, installation manager Evgenii Bridnya, artist Vasiliy Matafonov, photographer Olga Karapetian, and stylist Kira Prokhorova.
