It’s the brunch party you didn’t know you needed — unless, of course, you’ve always wanted to sip cocktails and tuck into fried chicken while a Spandau Ballet legend spins synth-pop anthems a few feet away.

Martin Kemp is heading back behind the decks for 2025 as his cult-status Back to the 80s Brunch returns to The Fable by Drake & Morgan, just moments from Farringdon station. With dates announced from August through to December, it’s set to be a five-month celebration of all things neon, nostalgic and brilliantly over-the-top.
For the uninitiated, this isn’t your average mimosa-fuelled weekend affair. This is a full-throttle throwback. Expect hair-raising ballads, shoulder-padded dancefloor classics and a crowd that’s more Top of the Pops than TikTok. Kemp — actor, pop icon, and the unlikely national treasure of Celebrity Gogglebox fame — will be soundtracking the afternoon with the hits that defined a decade.

Running from 12pm to 5pm, the brunch itself delivers a solid mix of comfort food and crowd-pleasers. Guests kick things off with a sharing board piled high with vegan superstraccia, Suffolk rosemary salami, aubergine dip, hummus, olives and crisp sourdough. Mains go big on flavour – think buttermilk chicken burgers, shakshuka flatbreads, and fish & chips worthy of a hangover cure.
But the real draw is the atmosphere. This is the kind of afternoon where strangers become friends over a shared love of A-ha, and where dancing at 2pm on a Saturday is not only acceptable but expected. If your idea of heaven involves Whitney Houston, a few spritzes and some seriously strong glitter game, then you’ve found your calling.
Upcoming dates include:
Saturday 23rd August
Saturday 27th September
Saturday 25th October
Saturday 6th December
Saturday 13th December

Tickets are priced at £55 per person and include two courses and entry to the event. Unsurprisingly, they’re already disappearing fast.
So dust off your Ray-Bans, rehearse your best air guitar, and prepare to brunch like it’s 1985.
