Camden has never been a place to do Christmas quietly. This year, the iconic North London destination is turning the dial up with a festive line up that blends old world magic with the unmistakable spirit of the market. Across December, visitors will find the entire neighbourhood transformed into a winter playground, crowned by the launch of the brand new Ice Palace Grotto and a series of seasonal moments designed to pull you in and keep you wandering.

From Water Lane to the heart of Hawley Wharf, Camden Market will be wrapped in a canopy of light, creating a glimmering ceiling that casts a soft glow over the crowds below. Snowflake inspired illuminations shimmer in icy blue and fuchsia pink while six towering Christmas trees bring the square to life with a theatrical sparkle that only Camden could pull off.

The star attraction is the Ice Palace Grotto at Hawley Wharf. It is more than a place to meet Father and Mother Christmas. It is a full experience. Families can book a three hour slot for ten pounds, where children step into a frosted world of craft tables, a story corner, face painting and a grand Christmas tree at the centre of it all. Every booking sends one pound to Great Ormond Street Hospital Childrens Charity, giving the outing an added purpose. Slots begin from half past twelve or one in the afternoon and tickets are released from midday on Thursday the thirteenth of November through the Camden Market website.

The festive season begins officially on the sixth of December with a launch event at Hawley Wharf, running from half past twelve to half past four. The Enchanted Ice Grotto will open to the public and The Big Sing will fill Market Place at half past three, promising the kind of warm and joyful energy that Camden delivers so effortlessly. It is free to attend and set to be one of the most vibrant moments of the Christmas calendar.

Of course, Camden Market would not be Camden Market without its traders, and this year they are stepping forward with a line up of seasonal specials that could lure even the most disciplined eater off course. Yorkshire Burrito is serving a Christmas Dinner wrapped in a soft Yorkshire pudding complete with slow cooked turkey, pigs in blankets, cranberry sauce, potatoes, greens and gravy. Hans and Gretel is crafting a mince pie gelato made fresh on site. Humble Crumble is pouring a dark and indulgent hot chocolate made with seventy two percent chocolate, topped with vanilla cream and finished with cacao powder.

Together, these touches build a Christmas that feels unmistakably Camden. Creative, a little rebellious and filled with charm.
