Duerr’s has been part of the British breakfast table for nearly a century and a half. This year, the Manchester institution has decided to slip away from the toast rack and into the drinks cabinet, unveiling a Christmas release that feels both playful and deeply rooted in its heritage. In collaboration with Salford Rum, the family owned marmalade maker has created a one off Marmalade Rum that captures the unmistakable brightness of its Fine Cut Seville blend and reimagines it as a festive spirit.

Duerr’s

It is a bold move for a brand woven into the rituals of British mornings, but it makes perfect sense. Duerr’s history is steeped in the trade routes that shaped the north of England. In the late nineteenth century, oranges, sugar and spices arrived into Manchester through the bustling Salford Docks. The earliest jars of Duerr’s marmalade were likely made with ingredients that passed through those very waters. Salford Rum looks to that same past in its own craft, blending Caribbean rum tradition with the industrial heart of northern England. Together they have created something that is both nostalgic and entirely new.

The limited edition release takes Duerr’s Fine Cut Seville Marmalade straight from the jar and distils it with fresh orange peel, dried lemon peel and almond. The result is a warm, citrus led spirit that mirrors the brand’s iconic flavour with a gentle kick. Made with a white molasses base from Guyana and finished with sugar, orange and ginger, it is an unmistakable nod to the original recipe while opening the door to a different kind of enjoyment. Think the brightness of breakfast, reimagined as a winter evening treat.

Richard Duerr, who leads the sixth generation of the family business, described the collaboration as a new way of telling the brand’s story. He spoke about the pleasure of seeing a familiar flavour carried into a new world, brought to life by Salford Rum’s craft and approach. The spirit does exactly that. It is a meeting of two local names that share a history with the same trade routes and the same city, distilled into a bottle that feels instantly collectable.

As Duerr’s leans into a refreshed digital identity for 2026, including a new look across its website and social channels, this release arrives at the perfect moment. It introduces the brand to younger drinkers while reminding loyal fans why its flavour has stood the test of time.

Presented in Salford Rum’s signature seventy centilitre bottles and available with gifting boxes, the Marmalade Rum launches on fourteen December through the Salford Rum webshop. With an ABV of thirty seven point five and a recommended retail price of forty two pounds, it is set to be a striking addition to Christmas drinks carts and stocking rituals alike.

For those wondering how to serve it, the distillery recommends keeping things classic. Ginger ale brings out the spirit’s warming character while apple juice, hot or cold, turns it into a comforting festive serve. The team also offers a Christmas cocktail that leans fully into the idea of breakfast as inspiration.
