When Behind the Scenes Becomes the Spotlight
Taipei Fashion Week SS26 launched today and will run until 20th October. The Ministry of Culture unveiled the season’s theme & visual campaign: “Fashion, Action!” Grounded in the idea that “behind the scenes is also centre stage.”
Taiwanese dramas' meteoric rise is reshaping both storytelling and fashion aesthetics, setting a contemporary tone for this season. The Taipei Fashion Week SS26 campaign, “Fashion, Action!”, establishes a cross-disciplinary theatrical event that transforms the traditional runway into a dramatic stage. This unique initiative leverages fashion and Taiwanese drama as impactful conduits for cultural communication, where the emotional depth of narratives is reinterpreted through innovative fabrics and silhouettes.

This season, TPFW seeks to highlight the behind-the-scenes, establishing fashion as a cultural mirror that reflects the societal landscape. By sparking dialogue and celebrating these creatives, the aim is to forge a distinctive Taiwanese fashion language.
The opening show featured a total of 60 looks, with six Taiwanese fashion designers each creating pieces inspired by six popular Taiwanese dramas:
DYCTEAM x The Outlaw Doctor :
This collaboration explores "sutures " as a language of repairs, symbolising the rational and emotional tensions found in both medicine and life. The collection translates this concept into fashion, using exposed, raw seams—like genuine surgical scars—to represent humanity's flawed honesty. By blending suiting fabric with jacquard denim, asymmetrical structures, and distressed finishes, the pieces record a beautiful tension where imperfection achieves a new sense of order.
WEAVISM x The Cleaner:
WEAVISM's The Cleaner-inspired collection uses workwear to symbolise cleaning and preservation. Multi-pocket designs represent memory storage, while exposed stitching and weathered prints on new fabrics suggest repair, time's erosion, and rebirth. Garments become story-carrying vessels, much like the drama's "cleaners."
Dleet x Us without sex:
Dleet interprets the themes of "desire and freedom" through this capsule collection, focused on the liminal space between the fabric and the skin. The use of airy, soft flowing fabric allows the collection to pay homage to the theme of ‘Freedom’, whilst the brand employs tailoring and a muted colour palette to subvert traditional silhouettes, paying homage to the intricate female friendship as depicted in ‘Us Without Sex’.
RAY CHU x Holiday:
Designer Ray Chu translates the themes of daily emotion and self-discovery from "Holiday" into a collection defined by a light, fluid, and gender-neutral aesthetic. By utilising his signature unisex silhouettes and deconstructed, sustainable tailoring, the work successfully embodies the spirit of "life as performance."
NIKI YEH x Tabloid:
NIKI YEH's collection embodies female power, inspired by the drama "Tabloid"'s themes of revelation and sacrifice. A palette of red, lilac, grey, black, and white balances strength and softness. Transparent layering and metallic fabrics interpret revelation and concealment.
oqLiq x The World Between Us II
oqLiq uses functional fabrics to recreate a grey world of order and chaos, exploring the complexities of human entanglement. The collection is titled “Interlace”, through the interweaving of modular structures and contrasting materials, the work portrays the subtle relationship between people and the modern world.

Held at Songshan Cultural and Creative Park, Taipei Fashion Week SS26 features a dynamic lineup: The Opening Show, 11 brand showcases, the fashion curation “Colours of Taiwan”, and an international buyer programme.
