The Game-changer Plant-based Milk Alternative Set To Shake Up The Industry

With the free-from milk category soaring by 3.9% to £401.5m in the last year1, consumers are experimenting with vegan products more than ever before, seeking out options that not only taste great, but are packed with nutrition and good for the planet. But despite the crowded category, few products have successfully met all consumers’ needs… Until now.

WUNDA is a recently-launched plant-based milk alternative that’s set to shake up the category by providing consumers with a solution that offers the rare combination of nutritional balance and versatility, without compromising on taste.

The secret? WUNDA’s secret recipe uses a game-changing hero ingredient, the humble yellow split pea.

WUNDAFULLY Balanced Nutrition

The small-but-powerful yellow split pea is a source of good quality plant-based protein, and has been harnessed by WUNDA’s nutritionists in the innovative product recipe for WUNDA Original, which is low in fat, sugar and salt, but high in protein*, with 2.2 grams of pea protein per 100ml. WUNDA has 35 calories per 100ml

WUNDA Original contains additional nutrients and micronutrients essential for a healthy and balanced diet, including 120 milligrams (mg) of calcium and 1.9 grams of fibre per 100 ml serving, as well as providing a source of Vitamin D, B2 and B12.

Not just packed with nutrients, WUNDA is also free from dairy, gluten, lactose, soya and nuts.

Anna Collins, Nutrition Manager, WUNDA: “Shopping for a plant-based milk alternative can be an overwhelming experience when there are so many different choices available. The nutrition profile of these plant-based milk alternatives can vary enormously depending on the plant ingredient used, as well as other ingredients.

“At WUNDA, we think it’s important for a plant-based product to deliver to the expectations of people looking for a nutritious choice. We use public health guidelines to guide our product development and ensure our products are high in nutrients like protein and fibre, while being low in fat, saturated fat, sugar and salt. We also add nutrients that are important for a balanced, plant-based diet, such as calcium and vitamins D, B2 and B12.”

WUNDAFUL TASTE

All-too-often, plant-based milk alternatives disappoint consumers when it comes to taste and texture, but the power of pea protein and innovation behind Wunda’s secret recipe, is its light, mild and delicate taste, which sets it apart.

Thanks to its velvety creaminess and delicate taste, it’s a versatile, pantry must-have, which is primed to drink straight from the carton, pour over cereal, and use in baking and cooking. And, as its nutritionally balanced, it’s perfect for mixing into shakes and smoothies.

But WUNDA is a real game-changer when it comes to hot beverages: unlike some other plant-based milk alternatives, WUNDA doesn’t split, so froths incredibly well – perfect for foamy lattes!

Benoit Idieder, Senior Product Development Specialist, WUNDA: “WUNDA was created to help consumers find a complete solution that delivered on a balanced nutrition profile without compromise on taste and usage across key breakfast and beverage moments. The innovation was also created with multiple must-have key criteria, incorporating nutrition, application in tea or coffee to ensure there was no floccillation, lightness in taste, great foamability for cappuccinos, as well as a carbon neutral certification.”
