AVI-8 Watches is honoured to partner with Laguna’s Spitfire Legacy (LSL) to create an inspired Spitfire inspired timepiece in support of LSL’s hard work restoring the Spitfire P8331 back to airworthy condition. This legendary aircraft steeped in history was last flown by Wing Commander Piotr Laguna, who led the 303 Squadron to become the most successful squadron during the Battle of Britain.

In commemoration of the bravery of Piotr and the 303 Squadron, the Spitfire Laguna Chronograph Limited Edition has been designed with unique details and features inspired by the Spitfire P8331 itself. Measuring 42mm in diameter, the solid-steel case and custom flowing pushers are drawn from the Spitfire’s iconic curved silhouette, housing a VK series Japanese meca-quartz movement within. Drawing further inspiration from the body of the aircraft, micro-detailing on the case sides have been designed to recreate the plane’s panelling. The watch features flyback chronograph reset technology and 1/5 split-second readout, with applied indexes coated in Swiss lume for improved visibility in low-light conditions.

This timepiece features a clean and symmetrical twin-register dial layout, inspired by the Spitfire’s instrument panel itself. The watch-face is complimented by streaks of red and white, and a 303 Squadron badge at the 9 o’clock subdial serves as a constant reminder of their bravery. This partnership aims to create a lasting recognition of the incredible contributions of all 18,000 Polish pilots and ground crew who courageously and skilfully protected Great Britain throughout WWII, with proceeds from the sale of each watch going to LSL’s restoration of the P8331.
