As Lunar New Year arrives on the seventeenth of February, ushering in the Year of the Horse, Cutter & Squidge marks the moment with a limited edition collection that blends cultural tradition with the brand’s signature sense of play. The result is a colourful and indulgent line up of cakes, brownies, cookies and gifting sets designed for sharing, celebration and fresh starts.

Rooted in themes of new energy and good fortune, the twenty twenty six Lunar New Year Collection is wrapped in a beautifully illustrated sleeve created in collaboration with artist Georgina Leung, known for her vibrant, culturally rich visual language. Her artwork brings a festive rhythm to the collection, pairing symbolism with a contemporary edge.

Cutter & Squidge

A personal celebration with modern flair

For founders Annabel and Emily Lui, the collection carries particular meaning. Drawing on their heritage, the sisters have once again reinterpreted Lunar New Year through the Cutter & Squidge lens, balancing respect for tradition with joyful creativity. Each product is designed not only to taste indulgent, but to feel meaningful as part of a shared moment.

Standout treats for the season

At the heart of the collection is the Lunar New Year Strawberry Matcha Latte Cake, the bakery’s first ever matcha cake. Soft, fluffy layers are filled with silky matcha buttercream and sweet strawberry jam, finished with fresh strawberries, dried slices and white chocolate. It is a striking centrepiece, made for gifting and gathering.

The Lunar New Year Hamper offers a more expansive celebration. Curated for generous gifting, it includes Caramelised Sesame Peanuts, Cha Dong Clementine Tea, a Lunar New Year Brownie Selection, a Red Velvet Postable Cake and Lucky 8 Brownie Bites, all wrapped in Georgina Leung’s exclusive festive sleeve.

For brownie lovers, the Lunar New Year Brownie Box delivers rich, fudgy favourites in seasonal flavours such as Yuzu Raspberry Blondie, Strawberry Matcha Blondie, Salted Yolk Caramel Brownie and Mandarin Dark Chocolate Brownie, with the option to pair with Cha Dong Tea.

Smaller gestures are just as thoughtful. The Lucky Cat Letterbox Gift arrives wrapped in a red envelope inspired sleeve and includes festive treats and keepsakes designed to send luck and prosperity through the post. Lucky 8 Brownie Bites add a touch of gold dusted indulgence, while the Lunar New Year Cookie Tin offers a playful assortment of biscuits inspired by symbolic flavours and forms.

Celebrating together in Soho

Beyond the bakery boxes, Cutter & Squidge is bringing the celebration to life in person. On the eighteenth of February, the Soho bakery will host a Lunar New Year Mahjong Night in collaboration with Dear Asia. The evening invites both experienced players and newcomers to learn, play and celebrate together, guided by London’s leading Mahjong teachers.

The night will also feature a traditional lion dance, adding movement, colour and a sense of shared ritual to the festivities. Tickets are available for both open play and guided lessons, making the event accessible whether guests are seasoned or curious first timers.

A season of joy and generosity

Available to order online or in store from the fifteenth of January, with delivery from the thirtieth, the Lunar New Year Collection is designed to bring people together. Each product carries an intention beyond indulgence, offering moments of connection, generosity and optimism as the new year begins.

With its thoughtful design, celebratory flavours and community focused events, Cutter & Squidge’s Year of the Horse collection captures the spirit of Lunar New Year beautifully. A reminder that the most meaningful celebrations are often the sweetest ones, shared with others and savoured slowly.
